The Missing Manual to Myself: How Understanding My Human Blueprint Transformed My Life and Business

At Vis Magna Academy, we witness profound transformations daily when leaders discover their authentic energetic blueprint. Here's Co-Founder Joan's journey in her own words: a story that illustrates why understanding your Human Design can be the missing piece to both personal fulfillment and business success.
For Years, I Felt Like I Was Living with the Wrong Instruction Manual
I'd start projects with incredible energy, then lose steam in the middle. I'd have breakthrough ideas that others couldn't keep up with.
I'd make decisions that felt right but seemed "too fast" for everyone else. And for the longest time, I thought something was wrong with me.
Turns out, I was just a Manifestor trying to live like everyone else.

MBTI, DISC, Enneagram, Vedic Astrology
I've always been curious about understanding myself. In corporate, I'd taken every test: MBTI, DISC, Enneagram.
Friends would ask, "What type are you?" They were interesting, but not transformational.
On the spiritual side, Vedic astrology held more resonance. I even hired a metaphysical consultant post-pandemic to chart my years based on career and material expansion.
Still, something was missing. There was no practical map. No operating system. No manual that clicked.
Enter Human Design (By Accident)
In 2021, my aerial yoga teacher, Lin, asked if she could read my Human Design chart. I said yes, more to support her than anything. What she shared resonated.
But I filed it away in the "interesting but not urgent" box. It wasn't until after my solo healing journeys through Peru, after Brussels stripped me down to nothing, that the system came back. And this time, it landed.

My Human Design Snapshot
Energy Type: Manifestor
Definition: Single
Profile: 2/4 (Hermit/Opportunist)
Authority: Emotional
Strategy: To Inform
The Moving Train Revelation
When I reconnected with Lin after those transformative months, she gave me a full reading. "You're a Manifestor," she said. "Your energy is like a moving train. People can hop on or hop off… but the train keeps moving."
That one metaphor made everything click.
I Was Wired Differently (And That's the Point)
Only 8% of the world are Manifestors. No wonder I'd always felt like I was moving too fast, too independently, too "out there".
Ideas come to me in waves. I connect dots faster than I can explain them.
Someone shares a challenge, and my mind instantly sees the next 3 steps. But I used to feel guilty for not being the one who "finished" what I started.
The Guilt Loop
I initiated fast. Others loved the ideas. But maintaining them? I felt trapped, drained, and often misunderstood.
I kept wondering: why can't I sustain this? Because I wasn't designed to.
The Permission to Spark
Learning I was a Manifestor gave me permission.
Not to complete. Not to sustain. But to spark. To start. To initiate what others can run with.
This reframed how I now build my team, intentionally surrounding myself with various energy types so energy can naturally flow, supporting follow-through, consistency, and refinement.
"I Just Get It" - The Single Definition Advantage
Lin also helped me understand my Single Definition: "You process everything internally. You don't need to talk it out. You just get it."
That explained so much. I used to wonder why others took so long to decide or over-explained the obvious.
Now I understand - I process fast. Seamlessly. And I trust that flow.
The Hermit Who Feared Missing Out
My 2/4 Profile (Hermit/Opportunist) also revealed something big: I need solitude. But I had been living in FOMO.
So I said yes to every event. Every meeting. Every "just in case."
And I burned out, trying to be everywhere when my magic was meant to shine selectively.
My Real Gift?
When I show up authentically, I create instant emotional resonance.
People feel seen. Understood. Safe. This isn't something I trained for. It's something I forgot I had, and now I remember.
The Emotional Authority Shift
One of the biggest revelations was this: I'm not meant to make decisions in the moment.
I'm designed to ride the wave, wait for clarity, and then decide. In a fast-paced business world, this felt counterintuitive.
But now I say: "Let me feel into this and get back to you." And from that space, my decisions are more grounded. More true. More powerful.
The Strategy I Resisted: Inform
I never liked informing people. I wanted to keep things under wraps until they were perfect.
But Human Design taught me that my strategy as a Manifestor is to inform before I act. When I began to do that, everything shifted.
More flow. More support. Less resistance. People no longer felt blindsided; they felt included.
Speed as My Superpower
Lin reminded me that speed and willpower are my gifts. When the energy hits, I act. No need to perfect first.
This one truth reshaped how I do deals. I close fast. I trust timing. And I refine later.
Today, Through Vis Magna Academy…
Lin and I now share Human Design with corporate teams, because the transformation is profound. When leaders understand that some people need time.
Others need solitude. Some are wired to guide, not grind. Everything changes.
Culture shifts. Burnout reduces. Potential is activated.
Joan's transformation illustrates what we see repeatedly at Vis Magna Academy: when leaders align with their energetic blueprint, everything shifts. The struggle to force yourself into misaligned patterns dissolves. The guilt about your natural way of operating transforms into confidence. And your business begins to flow from authenticity rather than exhaustion.
This is why Human Design has become central to our leadership development work. It's not about changing who you are; it's about remembering who you've always been and building from that truth.

The Real Magic of Human Design
It's not about changing who you are. It's about remembering who you've always been.
Your quirks aren't flaws.
They're features.
Your "too much" might just be your true edge.
Are You Ready?
To stop fighting your nature and finally flow with it?
To build not just a business, but a legacy - rooted in your energetic truth?
Because once you do…
The new you will feel like the true you.
